What is significant about that? In the year of Jubilee, the
things that had been taken, stolen, sold or lost could be restored to the
person. The things that were being held captive would be set free and Debts
would be released. This was a spiritual law that God established with the
children of Israel and it was fulfilled and proclaimed by Jesus.
Luke 4:18 & 19 records Jesus proclaiming to everyone in the synagogue as He reads Isaiah 61:1& 2, that, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted; to preach deliverance to the captive; recovery of sight to the blind; to set at liberty them that are bruised and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
